NSF/ANSI 40 · Class IAerobic Treatment Plants
The Hydro-Action AP Series is an extended-aeration, activated-sludge treatment unit for residential and commercial onsite systems. Five sizes from 500 to 1,500 gallons per day — each one plumbed, wired, and run before it leaves the yard.
AP Series specifications
Every figure below comes from the Hydro-Action Florida tank schedule and our own build sheets.
| Model | Rated flow | Aerobic tank | Operating volume | Overall height | Outside dia. | Base dia. | Shipped weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AP500 | 500 GPD | PP800 | 798 gal | 80.25 in | 70.0 in | 59.75 in | 389 lb |
| AP600 | 600 GPD | PP1000 | 968 gal | 82.0 in | 76.0 in | 66.0 in | 500 lb |
| AP750 | 750 GPD | PP1200 | 1,125 gal | 80.25 in | 82.0 in | 71.5 in | 536 lb |
| AP1000 | 1,000 GPD | PP1500 | 1,460 gal | 94.0 in | 86.25 in | 78.63 in | 766 lb |
| AP1500 | 1,500 GPD | PP2200 | 1,948 gal | 104.0 in | 95.0 in | 83.0 in | 970 lb |
Shipped weight is dry: tank and dome only. It excludes the blower, effluent pump, control panel, risers and lids, and any liquid. Size lifting equipment from the dry weight plus whatever you are setting with it.
How the AP Series treats
Four stages, in order. Each one depends on the one before it.
Pretreatment
Raw wastewater enters a septic or trash tank where heavy solids settle and grease separates. This protects the aeration compartment from material it cannot process.
Aeration
Three fine-bubble diffuser assemblies on hard pipe inject air into the aeration compartment. Aerobic bacteria in the mixed liquor consume the waste as food. No chemicals are added at any point — the blower runs continuously to keep the culture alive.
Clarification
Flow moves into a cone-shaped clarification compartment where the biomass settles out and returns to aeration for further treatment. The cone geometry is what keeps solids moving back rather than carrying over.
Discharge
Clear, odorless effluent leaves through the outlet tee assembly to the chosen dispersal method — gravity, pressure dosing, drip, spray, or a mound. UV disinfection or chlorination can be added ahead of discharge where the permit requires it.
What actually arrives on site
Most suppliers send a tank and a box of parts. We assemble and test the unit first, so your crew sets it, connects it, and moves on to the next job.
- Tank and dome, with inlet and outlet gasketed to ASTM C923
- Internal plumbing, diffuser assemblies and air distribution fitted and pressure-checked
- Blower mounted in its housing, wired and run
- UL-listed control panel built by Legacy Controls, function-tested before shipping
- Polylok 24" risers and lids, stainless fastened, tamper-resistant screws in the lid
- Wiring diagram, start-up sheet and O&M manual travel with the unit
- Buoyancy and anti-flotation collar sizing calculated for your site before dispatch

What the AP Series is tested to

NSF/ANSI 40, Class I
Tested to the Class I performance standard for secondary treatment, meeting EPA secondary treatment guidelines for CBOD₅, TSS and pH.

NSF/ANSI 245
Where nitrogen limits apply, the AN Series carries the nitrogen reduction certification. See the AN Series

UL 508A
The control panel shipped with every plant is built and listed to the UL Solutions industrial control panel standard. See control panels
